RIBS TPTD: Make My Funk The P-Funk!
Wait a minute… let me put my sunglasses on. That’s the law around here, you got to wear your sunglasses. So you can feel cool!
OK! IT’S TIME TO GET ON DOWN AND GET FUNKY!
It’s the Labor Day holiday weekend. The “unofficial” end of summer where everybody’s grabbing that last little bit of rest and relaxation before getting back into the regular routine of the daily grind. Well, we want to carry you through the weekend with a cruise on the Mothership, baby!
George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Eddie Hazel, Bernie Worrell and the rest of the gang are gonna take us on a weekend-long, 5-day funk fest of the music of Parliament-Funkadelic and many other members of the P-Funk family. Parlet, Bootsy’s Rubber Band, The Brides Of Funkenstein, Fred Wesley & Maceo Parker, the Sweat Band, Godmoma… we gonna be chompin’ down on some FUNK & RIBS all weekend!
Today we kick things off with some of my favorite, P-Funk tunes that I have partied to over the years (AAMOF, I’m sure you’ve heard them a time or two yourself! {smile}). Friday, the psychedelic, funk-rock rhythms of Funkadelic take center stage, and on Saturday we take a look at some of the offshoot groups that Dr. Funkenstein created during the heyday of the P-Funk empire.
Soooooo…. we’re ridin’ on the Mothership all weekend long. We present to you the first part of a whole weekend of FUNK:
George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelic family!
